Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands: People in need of Change helping People in Need of Change

This book, written by Paul David Tripp, is an excellent resource to the Church in the area of sanctification. Addressing the deep need for change, the author explains the process for helping people in their struggle with sin. Despite the notion that assistance in sanctification is the job of professional counselors, Tripp’s book is a training tool for every Christian, as every person must be ready to fulfill the ministry of sanctification. To this point Tripp writes, “God’s plan is that through the faithful ministry of every part, the whole body will grow to full maturity in Christ.” The whole book is about God using needy people as instruments of the same kind of change in others. Its goal reaches beyond a mere personal change, aiming to help transform the church’s very nature which, as a whole, must not think that the aid in sanctification belongs to the ‘professionals.’ Instead, the church must take action in training every person how to lead self and others in progressive sanctification.

“A wonderful reminder that everyone who belongs to Jesus can help others. God gave us to each other! This is a wise and helpful book that should change your life and that of the church. Read it! You’ll be glad.” Steve Brown
