1st Grade Program Course: He Established a Testimony. Theme: God has testified of His glorious deeds and mighty power. This curriculum explores God's greatness by noting key themes found chronologically throughout the Old Testament. Bible stories are not written out; teachers prepare the lesson through the study of scripture using a list of key themes, opening illustrations, and application questions to acquaint children with a great God whose character never changes.
Lesson: Esau sells his birthright Scripture: Genesis 25:19-34 Key theme: Esau did not value God's promises Memory verse: Proverbs 3:5
2nd Grade Program Course: Jesus, What a savior! Theme: We were created to enjoy the glory of God. But as sinners we fail to treasure Him as we should. Our hearts are full of sin and we stand in need of a Savior. This chronological study on redemption explores the incomparable greatness and worth of God, the desperate condition of helpless sinners, and the all-sufficient work of Jesus Christ to redeem sinful people.
Lesson: Jesus Understands Sinners Scripture: Matthew 4:1-11; Hebrews 2:14-18, 4:15 Key Themes:
- Jesus shared in our humanity
- Jesus was tempted in every way
- Jesus is God; He did not sin
- Jesus is able to sympathize with sinners
Memory Verse: Hebrews 2:18
3rd Grade Program Course: Faithful to all His Promises. Theme: God's promises are gifts to the believer. The challenge of the Christian life is not to simply know the promises of God, but to place unshakable confidence in them. This study teaches children that God's character is trustworthy; therefore, His promises are true and reliable.
Lesson: Promise: You Will Bear Fruit Scripture: John 15:5; Acts 16:16-34; Matthew 5:16; Galatians 5:22-23 Key Themes:
- God promises that His followers will bear fruit.
- Fruit in the life of a Christian comes from abiding in Jesus.
